Why Freemasonry?
Truth is, this organization has lost it's way. It is almost wholly a charitable organization now. And there is nothing wrong with that. At it's root, it was somewhat of a watchdog organization; hence the charge of it being at the forefront of creating a "New World Order" the charge of which may be partially true. As stated in my earlier post, many ideas behind the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, were inspired by Masonic ideas that saw their birth after the inquisition that was blessed by both Church and King.
To quote the former Republican Senator and now ordained Minister John Danforth, "At its best, religion can be a uniting influence, but in practice nothing can be more divisive. For Politicians (or Governments ..mine..) to advance the cause of one religious group is often to oppose the cause of another."
This was fully recognized by the founding fathers who were battling to create a form of government that was summed with these words by Abraham Lincoln.
"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal."

When the Articles of Confederation were drawn, a prominent Mason, Benjamin Franklin was asked, "What have you given us, Dr. Franklin?" And he replied, "A republic...if you can keep it."
To quote writer Nicholas Meyer, "There's the rub. Republics are hard to sustain, requiring as they do a continual infusion of Virtue and commitment to selfless, incorruptible public service."
How long have we been without an,"infusion of Virtue and commitment to selfless, incorruptible public service?" But this is and has been the goal of the Masonic order. The Fraternity of Freemasons acknowledges that men have different views of God and they have sought to create a way to unite while recognizing these religious differences. This idea, which has been opposed from the beginning, has allowed the barnacles of organized religion, most notably Christianity, to weigh down the ideology of the new republic until it has found it's waterline revealing a lack of buoyancy.
Yes, we are listing. And converting all Americans to Christianity will not be the answer to our sinking.

"Christian Conservatism" is the use of apocalyptic religion to hide the corporate nihilism sliding under the radar beneath it. Religious intolerance isn't the biggest threat to American values - corporations (which lack the capability of behaving as moral agents because of "limited liability")dominating the operation of the government are the greatest threat to the security of the world and to American values.
Capitalism is both our greatest virtue, and, divorced from its philosophical/moral foundation as it is becoming, it is also our greatest vice.
