to breathe your breath, pulling myself deeply into you; Your smell, your very pores, my teeth biting softly in all your hidden places; I am most alive, tangled in you.

. Nothing to offer No darkness, no light. From cradle to grave, No day and no night Give with your left and take with your right Nothing to offer No darkness, no light. Sufferings past and valor known, everything remains and outlives the tomb. Colors robbed and red turned to grey, blended together to return today. Why cry, you say? A man should not do! A stiff upper lip, all tears, adieu! A dull knife, cut stem to stern, happiness, peace, all adjourn! Nothing to offer, No darkness, no light. The curtain will close my heart is contrite. Bowed head, clasped hands. Be well, be well, within me demands.

Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent thandolphins because he had achieved so much... the wheel, New York, wars, and so on, whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muckabout in the water having a good time. But conversely thedolphins believed themselves to be more intelligent than man forprecisely the same reasons...... hitchikers guide to the universe

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldomWe have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger th...

We sat around the front of the store between the doors and the registers waiting for the customers to begin arriving. It's the morning ritual, drink a coffee and clear the cobwebs and say the customary, "good morning" dispersed among the jib jab of the morning small talk. We had a balmy 64 degrees on Friday but today was a cold 3 degrees with several inches of snow accompanied by high winds. A new employee was outside shoveling every inch of sidewalk around the building while the veterans of several years employment sat inside watching. "You can tell he's new," stated one guy while the rest joined in with a snicker. The wisdom of the moment was lost on them. I sat pondering the above quote of Zen Master Suzuki. In my last position as a manager, I tried to cultivate beginner's mind among my crew and for myself. Master Suzuki hoped that we would cultivate it in all of our activities. For this kid, outside shoveling on a cold and windy day, the day, the new...

1st post 2/27/2005.......not much has changed...except I've grown older and less wise. Many issues remain the same. Fallen off the cushion; weight gain still evident; still drink more than I care for; employed but at 60% less pay..... I am still working on my book...however slow its progress. There have been blips of spontaneous blog writing: .............it started with a feather. A feather that rode the air until it landed at his feet. The gates of his repressed memories were in an instant unlocked and as quickly his mind was clear. Clear in a way he never thought possible. The soot of many emotional firestorms was wiped clean. Even the air smelled differently as if his senses were suddenly heightened. His vision, his hearing, everything changed at the drop of a feather.A large black crow sat alone, without sentry. He observed and gave an occasional nod of the head. The totem served to confirm that his awakening was not a dream but his birth as shaman. He stood and walked as the c...

He entered at the point of entry and departed at the point of departure. When he told of his experience, experience, he could not deny, His listeners thought myraid thoughts of disbelief, of not hearing of such things. Of visions, or dreams, or speaking in tongues; Of violence, of love, this being human, shows which is beyond thought, beliefs, what we have thought to be true. I have only this; we are born, we live, we die. Whatever is sandwiched between can nourish or starve. I have known both. I am human.

Words, thoughts, language......an attempt to convey; a communication. Not always that easy. Mention the color red to the twenty two major nations in the world and have them pick the color on a color chart. In something that simple you will see the difference in words, thought, language. Imagine the complication of pointing towards that which is beyond words and you get the essence of what it means to convey the teachings of the Tao, or of Zen. You see the same in traditional Christianity. When I was fastidiously studying the Bible, I began to grasp the esoteric meaning. I really believe that, "The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.The name that can be named is not the eternal Name" is true of the teachings of most spiritual thought. The construct that we know as "Christianity" is the same thing that you would have if you developed Taoism or Buddhism into a "Major Religion." Whoops, been there, done that!!!! It's a very difficult place to find...
