There is something about a Spring weekend with temperatures in the mid Seventies that makes you forget all the hardships of Winter; even if it was a rather mild one at that. The Ghia is out from under wraps. We had our first BBQ and fire of the season. A slew of people, good food, conversation and laughter. My Grandson Dom and Brielle were present and playing (chasing) them was great fun. I had to work the weekend but I made the most of what time I did have. Met with some friends at the Beagle Club on Friday night. Raked a portion of my lawn on Saturday and took the "Little Hottie" out for her maiden voyage of the season.

The Red Sox swept the Yankees. I have always held a deep dislike (hate) for the Yankees. Any team that would buy its way into the playoffs shows just what is wrong with professional sports. I was a big Indians fan in the nineties due to the experiment of putting old veterans with a bunch of rookies and letting a team play as a team. When the Marlins (another team with heart and little payroll) beat the Indians in the World Series, the quest for money once again reared its ugly head. All the Marlin players took off to other teams for bigger money. Most have not been heard from again and the Marlins have been at best, only a spoiler team. My Mother (I miss her) was a huge Red Sox fan and never lived to see them win the World Series. She died of liver failure due to a botched hip replacement in July and did not see Red Sox Nation prevail that fall.

I used to say that my year began with Beltane and ended with Samhein at which time I, like the sun, would go dark for a season. With May Day fast approaching, I am growing ever hopeful.
